I just joined this community and am in need of some advice. I know that this community deals with mostly ideas on how to paint but I'm hoping somebody here can help me.

We will be painting our sons room soon. I am wondering if it is ok to paint the room and then allow them to sleep in there the same night? Should I make other arrangements for them to stay the night somewhere? What would air out the room best? It's a small 10X9 room with one window. I've had paint for so long to do their room but have been so afraid to do it because I dont want them to get sick. Last time we painted our living room our oldest (he was 3 months at the time) ended up in the hospital with RSV. They are older now, 2 and 4, and the fumes shouldnt be that big of a problem I dont think but what would you all suggest? I'm very curious to hear everybody's opinions. Thanks in advance.

3:47PM - Painting wood floors

I know this community is for painting walls, but I hope asking this is okay! I am painting the stained wood floor of a small room. I want that "country"/shabby chic look that I keep seeing in magazines, almost whitewashed looking, not the high-gloss look I keep finding on my google searches. What kind of paint do I use? Do I need to sand the whole thing? I don't care if it wears well, it's a VERY low traffic room, and will have a rug over much of it. I kind of like the chipped look.

THANKS in advance!

11:30AM - Need Help.

Hey guys,
I am moving into my first apartment pretty soon and I needed some advice about paint colors and themes. I've decided on a few items that will go into this room... perhaps that will help.

I will have an Iron cast sleigh bed... looks very Italian, two picture frames... Black frames with paintings from the Renaissance period. I have two lamps... Porcelain China white and blue. I have a gold comforter and gold satin drapes... all things I've taken from my parents house.

I also have crown molding in the room and it is only 10 by 14 with one large window.

Any advice on themes and a color to paint the room would be much appreciated!! Just not coffee or beige... thats been my room color for the past fifteen years. THANKS!

i was wondering if anyone has used paint easy by wagner spray corp in their paint? it a paint conditioner for airless spraying but i have found it to be great at thinning paint so that it levels off nicely. i used to use floetrol but that seems to be almost like paint grease. hoping someone may have feedback about either of these products

I have sudden motivation, so i decided that next weekend Im going to paint my bathroom. I only want to do one wall "accent wall" and I want it to be one of the colors of my shower curtain. I have a red rug & the rest of the walls will stay white, unless I like the color enough to paint the whole thing.

Hi, what a fun community. I'm too lazy to actually put my pics up on my server since they're already at webshots but this is our house we bought in October. A lot of the first pics are what it looked like before we bought it but I have pics at the bottom of the first page and the top of the second page that are what my dining room and kitchen looks like since we've painted them. I love love love the red in my dining room and the soft greens in my kitchen.

Hi, I'm new to this community, but thought it was funny that I stumbled on it when I did. We had just painted the red bedroom recently...thought I'd share. And hopefully the bathroom will be painted a darker red soon (It came out salmon when we tried it a year ago).

Current mood: amused

more target finds.

a few months ago i bought a shower curtain set at target. maybe you saw them. it was way cheap. purple vinyl with light green polka dots and it came with clear purple shower rings.

i bought it because i had just moved and i had to have two shower curtains because of the way my shower was set up and i had zero cash. they were 4.99 a set.

now, i like the colors, but thats not why i bought it. but now its what i've got, and my bathroom needs painting. the bathroom and kitchen are first to be painted.

i chose lavender and celery green as the paint colors. i have lots of trim and crown and foot moulding, cabinet doors and one window. i plan to paint the trim and moulding, etc. one color and the walls the other...duh. but the question is...which ones?

the curtain is purple based with the green dots. normally i would go with the purple walls and green trim, but i am wondering if it will be too much purple...

any thoughts?

what are you using as color inspiration in your room(s)?

i had a horrible time deciding what to use in the kitchen...until i found the 'exotic summer' collection of rugs/linens/etc. at target.
